John Dussouy (pronounced dew-SOY) was introduced as Jones College's first-ever volleyball coach on March 29, 2023.
The New Orleans native, who goes by the nickname "Deuce", comes to Ellisville after spending the 2010-22 seasons as an assistant coach/recruiter at Coastal Alabama-South in Bay Minette, Alabama.
Dussouy helped the Sun Chiefs to 11 straight winning seasons, seven 20-win seasons and four ACCC runner-up finishes. He coached 43 all-region players and helped 36 student-athletes transfer to four-year programs during that time.
In addition to his work with Coastal Alabama-South, Dussouy has been a head coach for Eastern Shore Volleyball Club for the past eight years where he has won 14 club championships and posted a .700 win percentage. He also coached for the Gulf Coast Region High Performance team, which has played other regions in the United States and teams from various countries.
Since 2000, he has been a certified athletic trainer working in high school, junior college and Division I athletics as well as Minor League Baseball.
Dussouy was the starting outside hitter and captain of the men's volleyball club team at Southern Miss from 1994-97 where he obtained his bachelor's in sports medicine and master's in coaching/sports administration.
Dussouy is married to the former Angela Brocato and the couple have a 16-year-old daughter, Addisyn.
Addie Ashton, who played collegiately at UT Arlington and Southern Miss as an outside hitter, joined the Jones volleyball staff in May 2023.
The Zionsville, Indiana, native has 10 years of volleyball experience both as a player and coach.
Ashton played in 27 career matches for the Golden Eagles from 2019-21 and as a true freshman at UT Arlington in 2018.
Prior to that, Ashton was a two-year letterwinner at Zionsville High School, helping the Eagles to a 29-3 record and a Final Four finish her senior year. She played club volleyball for Team Indiana.
Ashton has coached various aged club teams and currently coaches a U16 and U17 team. She also recently coached at West Jones High School where she helped the Mustangs reach the second round of the playoffs and to their best record (12-5) since the program began.
Ashton is a triplet, with twin brothers David and Christian.
Chris Laird brings over 25 years of volleyball experience to Ellisville and Jones College.
The Tylertown native spent the past eight seasons as the head coach at Pensacola State College where he led the Pirates to 133 wins and was a five-time conference coach of the year selection.
Prior to Pensacola State, Laird was the head coach at Nicholls State from 2005-10, an assistant coach at South Alabama from 2003-05 and spent one season at Alabama-Huntsville.
Laird got his start at Southern Miss as a student assistant in 1994. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from USM.
Laird has started four USA juniors volleyball clubs and will be starting one in the Ellisville area for boys and girls.
Outside of coaching, Laird is currently an NCAA, NAIA and USA Volleyball indoor and beach volleyball official.
